Good for you public TV, I knew my donations were worth it! KERA, the public television channel for North Texas, is updating its weekday television schedule starting March 30 to serve pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade students who are learning at home during the COVID-19 crisis. The programs will air on KERA-Channel 13 and will stream on KERA.org/Learn. The website includes a number of resources that are aligned with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards. Favorite offerings being aired include TV shows as Cyberchase, History Detectives, and American Experience. These are shows for older kids, but they are also shifting programming to offer portions of the day specific to certain age groups. In addition to full episodes, they have included associated games, at home activities, and classroom activities linked to the content in the episodes.
The weekday television lineup is segmented by target grades:
6-8 a.m. – Programs for kids in pre-K to 3rd grade (including my favorite Odd Squad).
8 a.m.-2 p.m. – 4th through 8th-graders.
2-6 p.m. – 9th through 12th graders.
