Well, now you can! Ability ABA and Kids BRAIN are ecstatic to announce that we are now enrolling families for live (virtual) parent training. This new program, which we call Empowering the Spectrum of Parents (ESP) Program, is a 12 week course to build your social communication parent superpowers. We will meet at 1:30 pm each Wednesday once the group is full. Sessions will offer parents specific lessons on:
- Social Communication-how your child understands and uses facial expressions, gestures, sounds, words, and sentences. This program covers children who are preverbal up to full sentences.
- Imitation-copying others in order to make important developmental gains. This program offers content to teach parents how to teach imitation during play and other familiar routines in order to encourage back-and-forth social imitation.
- Play-interacting with toys and other objects for fun. Play helps children problem-solve, use imagination, take different perspectives, and to gain better motor skills. Play is also essential for social interaction with peers. This program teaches parents how to model and build stronger play skills so that they go from exploring materials through their senses to using more complex play that involves typical use of lots of different kinds of toys and including parents, family, and siblings jointly.
